Bill Reed is an excellent protagonist, quite flawed but you feel for the guy. THE ANIMALS is a novel about love, hope, redemption, and revenge. A poignant meditation on trying to live an independent life and yet also trying to escape the past. Christian Kiefer is one hell of a writer. Highly recommended.
